Brazil During World Cup_020.JPG
Watching the game from a little television set up on the sidewalk, the crowd reacts to Brazil's first goal during the Brazil-Colombia World Cup game in the Pelourinho neighborhood of Salvador, Brazil, Friday, July 4, 2014. This neighborhood was the center of the city during the Portuguese Colonial Period and was named Pelourinho, which means pillory, for the whipping post, in the central plaza. This is where African slaves were whipped and tortured in public. The city of Salvador was where a majority of slaves from Africa were brought into Brazil.
